Outpost (2008)

Director: Steve Barker
Rae Brunton, Kieran Parker.
Cast: Ray Stevenson (DC), Julian Wadham (Hunt), Richard Brake (Prior), Paul Blair (Jordan), Brett Fancy (Taktarov).
Synopsis: A group of mercenaries are sent to investigate an Old Bunker in Western Europe. nce at the outpost, the men make a horrific discovery that turns their mission on its head – the scene of a bloody and gruesome series of experiments, carried out by the SS in reality shifting and reanimation during World War II to create invincible soldiers. Amidst the carnage, they find a survivor.
Review: It’s hard to pinpoint what genre this movie falls into: action, thriller, horror, all of the above, none of the above. The movie features the best of all these genres: a fast pace and dynamic directing, a tense, claustrophobic atmosphere and gritty, no-nonsense characters, peppered with an overwhelming sense of doom and a few genuinely frightening moments. One of the movie’s strong points is the fact that the horror scenes are handled in a subtle, understated kind of way, without relying on CGI or fake blood. It also manages to avoid the pitfalls of cheap scares and cheesy dialog (so sadly abundant these days in horror movies).
Zombie Points:
4 ZOMBIE Points, Nazi ZOMBIES?? Awesome idea.
